COVID-19: Ejalonibu Foundation Distributes Food Items to Widows, Indigent in Badagry
A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Ejalonibu Foundation, on Sunday distributed food items to 1,000 widows, aged and indigent in Badagry, Lagos State, to cushion the effect of COVID-19 lockdown.
Mr Babatunji Wusu-Ejalonibu, Founder of the Foundation, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Badagry that the NGO had to extend the palliative to widows, aged and the vulnerable who did not benefit in the first phase.
According to him, during the distribution of the first batch food items in Badagry, attention was focused on some residents who lived on daily income.
“About 600 residents benefited from the relief items here, we went back to draw board and discovered that the aged, widows, widowers and vulnerable are most affected by the lockdown.
“These people have nobody to cater for them and they are dying of hunger in their respective houses.

“But today, we have brought over 1,000 food items including rice, beans, garri, spaghetti and noddles to give the widows and indigent in Badagry as our little effort in addressing the hunger brought by the COVID-19 lockdown.
“We have identified these people in Ajido, Gbaji, Ajara, Kankon and Imeke through the Community Development Committee (CDC) in their areas.
“We believe that the little intervention from our own side will go a long way in reducing the hardship that might be created by the lockdown,” he said.
Wusu-Ejalonibu said the foundation had embarked on series of projects such as giving out scholarship to indigenes in higher institutions and assisting the less privileged in the town.
